Saskatchewan RCMP Special Teams Seize Over 75kg of Drugs in 2025 Operations
Specialized RCMP enforcement teams in Saskatchewan conducted a major crackdown on drug trafficking and criminal activity throughout 2025, removing more than 75 kilograms of dangerous substances from communities across the province. The Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Mounted Police's Enforcement Response Teams executed a comprehensive series of operations that resulted in significant seizures and numerous arrests.
Massive Drug Seizures Across the Province
According to official RCMP data released in March 2026, the specialized teams confiscated substantial quantities of illicit drugs during their 2025 operations. The seizures included:
- 60 kilograms of methamphetamine
- 14 kilograms of cocaine
- 357 grams of fentanyl
- 70 "pharmaceutical style" tablets
- 3 kilograms of other unspecified drugs
In addition to the drug seizures, the teams also removed 120 firearms from circulation, addressing multiple aspects of community safety concerns.
Extensive Enforcement Actions
The RCMP's Special Enforcement Response Teams (SERT) demonstrated remarkable operational activity throughout 2025. The specialized units executed 765 arrest warrants and conducted 375 search warrants across Saskatchewan. These enforcement actions resulted in the laying of 955 criminal charges and more than 1,000 arrests.
Inspector Michelle Ireland, SERT's commanding officer, emphasized the coordinated approach of these operations. "Our specialized teams work hand-in-hand with front-line officers and community partners to target the individuals causing the most harm in Saskatchewan," she stated in a recent news release.
Province-Wide Collaboration and Impact
The Special Enforcement Response Teams operate province-wide with officers based in 10 communities across Saskatchewan. SERT comprises multiple specialized units including the Crime Reduction Team, Offender Management Unit, Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team, and units dedicated to combating human trafficking.
Inspector Ireland highlighted the intelligence-driven nature of these operations, noting that "Last year's results show how that coordinated, intelligence-driven enforcement is making a real impact, removing dangerous drugs, firearms, and high-risk offenders from communities throughout the province."
Notable Collaborative Operations
The specialized teams demonstrated their effectiveness through several high-profile operations during 2025. In one significant action, SERT collaborated with the Prince Albert Police Service in December to seize 3.9 kilograms of cocaine and 4.8 kilograms of methamphetamine along with six firearms.
Another operation resulted in the arrests of 10 individuals wanted on outstanding warrants in the Turtleford area. The teams also participated in 69 inter-provincial investigations, addressing criminal networks that often operate across multiple police jurisdictions.
The comprehensive 2025 operations demonstrate the RCMP's commitment to targeted enforcement strategies that address the most significant threats to community safety across Saskatchewan. The substantial drug seizures, combined with the removal of firearms and the apprehension of high-risk offenders, represent a significant achievement in the ongoing effort to combat organized crime and drug trafficking in the province.
