A rideshare driver has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation by the Windsor Police Service. The incident, reported on April 18, involved a female passenger who alleged she was sexually assaulted by her driver during a trip.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the woman arranged transportation through a ridesharing app and was picked up by a male driver. The driver, whose name has not been released, allegedly gave the woman his personal phone number for future bookings. Later that evening, the woman contacted the driver directly to arrange a return ride.
During that ride, the driver allegedly made unwanted sexual advances and touched the woman in a sexual manner while parked in the 400 block of Askin Avenue. The woman repeatedly told the driver to stop before he eventually drove her home.
Arrest and Charges
Police identified a suspect and arrested him in the 100 block of Goyeau Avenue. A 30-year-old man has been charged with sexual assault. The rideshare company involved was not named by authorities.
