Oshawa Road Rage Stabbing: Woman Charged, Man Sought

A 53-year-old woman is facing charges after a road rage incident in Oshawa escalated into a stabbing that left a 19-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. Durham Regional Police responded to the scene near Lakeview Park and Simcoe Street on Wednesday at approximately 7:20 p.m.

Details of the Road Rage Incident

According to police, the suspect was involved in a road rage altercation with a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman. It is alleged that the man and woman used bear spray after the suspect brandished a knife. The female victim was stabbed multiple times before the suspect fled the area. The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in serious but stable condition.

Arlene Sophia Moore has been charged with aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous. Hate-Motivated Assault in Toronto

In a separate incident, Toronto police have charged a 44-year-old man in connection with a suspected hate-motivated assault with a weapon. The incident occurred in the Adelaide Street West and Spadina Avenue area on Thursday. Police allege that the accused approached the victim and assaulted them with a metal pole without provocation while making anti-Sikh discriminatory comments. The victim sustained minor injuries to their head and was targeted because of their religious attire.

Scarborough Assault Suspect Sought

Toronto police are also seeking a male suspect after an assault in Scarborough early Friday morning. Officers responded to a park near Ellesmere Road and Morningside Avenue at around 5:40 a.m. after receiving a call that someone had been assaulted and the suspect was armed with a knife. A man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries by Toronto paramedics.

The suspect is described as a Black male, possibly in his teens, standing about 5-foot-7, with a thin build, wearing black pants and a black sweatshirt. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-4300.

Four Charged in $1.9 Million Cheque Fraud

Durham Regional Police have charged three men and one woman in connection with a $1.9 million cheque fraud investigation in Uxbridge. Police allege that on March 16, a woman cashed a fraudulent cheque valued at over $1.9 million at an Uxbridge bank. Between March 16 and 20, the woman and three men allegedly conducted bank transfers, withdrawals, e-transfers, wire payments, and completed bank drafts to launder the funds. The group fraudulently obtained more than $890,000 before the money was frozen.

Following an investigation by the Financial Crimes Unit, the four suspects were located and taken into custody. Helia Bayegan, 50, of Richmond Hill, is charged with fraud over $5,000, uttering a forged document, laundering proceeds of Canadian crime, and possessing proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000. Arvin Singh Dhaliwal, 28, of Wasaga Beach, and Peyman Pornour, 45, of North York, are both charged with laundering proceeds of Canadian crime and possessing proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000. Yiang Leng, 30, of Toronto, is charged with possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000.
