A 44-year-old man, who had been wanted for nearly a year in connection with a human trafficking case in Oshawa, has been apprehended and now faces a series of serious criminal charges. The arrest marks a significant development in an ongoing investigation that began in early 2025.

Investigation Details and Timeline

Durham Regional Police initiated their investigation into allegations of exploitation on May 1, 2025. According to authorities, the victim first encountered the suspects in Oshawa during February of that year. Over the subsequent weeks, investigators determined that a female suspect had exploited the victim, coercing her into engaging in sexual acts with men for monetary gain.

On July 4, 2025, police announced the arrest of Tina Baker, then 43, who was charged with multiple offenses including trafficking in persons, forcible confinement, material benefits from sexual services, procuring or exercising control, extortion, assault, and robbery. At that time, an arrest warrant was also issued for a male suspect linked to the case.

Arrest of the Male Suspect

After a 10-month search, members of the Offender Management Unit located and arrested the male suspect in Oshawa on March 12, 2026. The individual, identified as Yvenord Hyacinthe, 44, of Oshawa, has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, robbery, extortion, and procuring. He was held for a bail hearing following his arrest.
