Armed Robbery in Markham: Police Seek Trio After Early Morning Business Heist

York Regional Police have launched a public appeal for information following a brazen armed robbery that occurred in Markham in the early hours of Thursday morning. According to authorities, officers responded to reports of a robbery at a business located near the intersection of Woodbine Avenue and 14th Avenue around 2:50 a.m.

Details of the Incident

Police allege that three suspects, all armed with firearms, entered the establishment and forcibly herded patrons into a single room. The victims were then threatened, and the perpetrators demanded cash and personal cellphones. After completing the robbery, the suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, heading southbound on Woodbine Avenue. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

The first suspect is described as a Black male with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants, black shoes, black Nike gloves, a black balaclava, and was carrying a handgun.

The second suspect is identified as a white male, also with a thin build. His attire included a blue hooded sweater, black pants, white shoes, black gloves, a black balaclava, and he too was armed with a handgun.

The third suspect is described as a Black male with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket over a dark blue hooded sweater, black pants, black shoes, a single black glove on his right hand, a black balaclava, and carried a grey backpack.

Correctional Officer Charged in Separate Case

In an unrelated development, Halton Regional Police have announced charges against a correctional officer following a month-long investigation. The officer, identified as Adrian Deonarine, 33, of Mississauga, is alleged to have brought contraband into the Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton.

Deonarine was charged on Thursday with one count of breach of trust by a public officer. He has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in Milton at a future date. Investigators are asking anyone with information related to this case to contact the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777, extension 2416.

Additional Police Investigations

In Toronto, police have charged a 37-year-old man, Zachary Leveque-Wilson, following a child exploitation investigation initiated by a tip from U.S. authorities. A search warrant executed in the Woodbine Avenue and Danforth Road area led to the seizure of devices containing child sexual abuse material. Leveque-Wilson faces multiple charges, including accessing and possessing exploitation material, and telecommunications with minors.

Meanwhile, York Regional Police are appealing for additional victims and witnesses after charging Ethan Smith, 27, of Aurora, with three counts of sexual assault. The incidents allegedly occurred on Thursday between noon and 4 p.m. in the area of Yonge and Wellington Streets, where Smith is accused of approaching three separate victims and touching them for a sexual purpose.

In Hamilton, police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect responsible for multiple graffiti mischief incidents that took place in October 2025. The individual, who uses the tag "Casper," was captured on security video spray-painting a building in the Centre Mall area.
