Suspect in 2025 Brampton Homicide Apprehended After Extensive Manhunt
A 41-year-old man, who had been the subject of a Canada-wide warrant for nearly nine months, is now in custody facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Brampton last spring. The arrest marks a significant development in a case that has remained active since May 2025.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to Peel Regional Police, the shooting took place in the early morning hours of May 11, 2025, near the intersection of Kennedy Road and Stafford Drive, just north of Steeles Avenue East. First responders arrived at the scene around 4:15 a.m. and discovered a victim suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.
The victim, later identified as 43-year-old Dayne Gordon of Toronto, was transported to a trauma center but succumbed to his injuries. The parking lot behind a business plaza at 107 Kennedy Road South was cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape, with numerous evidence markers visible around a black SUV.
Investigation and Arrest
Constable Tyler Bell-Morena stated at the time that investigators believed the shooting was targeted, though it was not immediately clear if Gordon was the intended victim. In the aftermath, many individuals reportedly fled from the plaza, which housed a nightclub.
A few weeks after the killing, police identified Winardo Winteria Morris, 41, of no fixed address, as a suspect. Morris was arrested on Monday, February 9, 2026, ending a nearly nine-month search. He has been charged with first-degree murder and remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the arrest or the suspected motive behind the shooting.
