A man was taken to hospital after being beaten with a blunt object during a fight in Montreal, according to police. The incident occurred on the evening of June 20, 2026, in the city's east end.
Details of the Attack
Montreal police (SPVM) responded to a call about a disturbance at around 8 p.m. Officers found a man in his 30s suffering from serious injuries consistent with a blunt object attack. The victim was transported to a hospital in stable condition, police said.
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Police have not released a description of the suspect.
Context and Response
This assault is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Montreal. Earlier this year, a Toronto man was charged after an alleged unprovoked robbery in the east end. The SPVM has increased patrols in the area but has not linked the cases.
"We are investigating this as a serious assault," said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Bouchard. "We urge anyone with information to come forward."
