A man has died after falling into a construction hole at an industrial site in Brampton, according to Peel Regional Police. Officers responded to the scene on Monday afternoon following reports of a workplace incident.

Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the fall are under investigation, and the Ontario Ministry of Labour has been notified.

Investigation Underway

Peel police did not release the victim's identity pending notification of next of kin. The construction hole was located at a commercial property in the area of Steeles Avenue and Hurontario Street.

Emergency services were called at approximately 4:30 p.m. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the man succumbed to his injuries.

Workplace Safety Concerns

The incident has raised questions about construction site safety. According to the Ontario Ministry of Labour, falls are a leading cause of workplace fatalities in the province. In 2025, there were 12 fall-related deaths in Ontario workplaces.

Peel police are working with the Ministry of Labour to determine if safety regulations were violated. No charges have been laid at this time.
