Man Faces Charges in Two GTA Shootings, Police Link Firearm to Both Incidents
In a significant development for law enforcement in the Greater Toronto Area, a 27-year-old man now faces multiple firearm-related charges in connection with two separate shootings that occurred in January and February. Police have confirmed that a loaded 9-mm handgun seized during one incident was involved in both cases, highlighting a collaborative investigation between York Regional Police and Toronto Police Service.
January Shooting in Vaughan
According to York Regional Police, the first incident took place on January 18 around 5 a.m. in the area of Madeira Avenue and Genoa Road in Vaughan. Investigators reported that several bullets struck a vehicle parked in a driveway during the shooting. At the time, police determined that at least two suspects were involved, but no injuries were reported from this event.
February Shooting in Toronto
Then, on February 15 just after 6 a.m., Toronto police responded to a call about a person with a gun in the Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West area. During a dispute, a firearm was discharged, leading to the arrest of a suspect at the scene.
