Windsor police made a significant drug bust on New Year's Day, arresting two individuals and confiscating a cocktail of dangerous narcotics following a routine traffic stop.
Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest and Drug Discovery
On Thursday, January 1, an officer with the Windsor Police Service pulled over a vehicle in the 5500 block of Reginald Street. The car was occupied by a man and a woman. During the initial interaction, police discovered that the female passenger was wanted in connection with an unrelated matter. Her arrest was made following a brief physical struggle.
A Cache of Controlled Substances Uncovered
A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a substantial haul of illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Officers seized multiple substances, including:
- Cocaine
- Crack cocaine
- Fentanyl powder
- Crystal methamphetamine
- Clonazepam tablets
In addition to the drugs, police confiscated $840 in Canadian currency and a digital scale, items commonly associated with drug trafficking operations.
Charges Laid Against Both Occupants
As a result of the investigation, the male driver was also taken into custody. Both individuals now face serious charges.
The man has been charged with five counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking. He also faces one count of failure to comply with a probation order.
The woman is similarly charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. She is additionally charged with facilitating the breach of a probation order.
The Windsor Police Service is continuing its investigation.
