In a significant law enforcement operation, the Edmonton Police Service has confiscated more than $1.5 million worth of illegal drugs and a cache of prohibited firearms, culminating a months-long investigation that began in 2025. The substantial seizure includes over five kilograms of fentanyl, along with heroin and cocaine, as well as twelve handguns and other weapons.
Investigation Uncovers Large Stash of Drugs and Firearms
According to a release issued by the Edmonton Police Service, officers initiated the investigation in June 2025 after receiving intelligence about a large quantity of suspected drugs and firearms located within a short-term rental property. Police executed a search warrant at the location, discovering the illicit substances and firearms.
The drug seizure comprises more than $1 million worth of illegal drugs, featuring over five kilograms of fentanyl, substantial amounts of heroin and cocaine, and various drug trafficking paraphernalia and supplies. In addition to the narcotics, investigators seized twelve prohibited handguns with corresponding magazines, a prohibited assault rifle, ammunition, and more than 1,000 rounds of assorted ammunition. Police estimate the firearms and ammunition have a street value exceeding $100,000.

The EPS Firearms Investigations Unit assumed control of the case and conducted further search warrants at two separate addresses in December 2025. During these subsequent searches, officers seized an additional approximately $500,000 worth of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, along with roughly $70,000 in Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, police have charged two individuals in connection with the crimes.
