Edmonton police have officially declared the deaths of two men discovered with gunshot wounds in the city's southeast last week a double homicide. The confirmation follows autopsies conducted earlier this week.
Victims Identified, Cause of Death Determined
Autopsies performed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday, December 17, and Wednesday, December 18, 2024, concluded that both men died from multiple gunshot wounds. The victims have been identified as Ranveer Gill, 20, and Gurdeep Singh, 26.
Officers were called to the area of 32 Street and 26 Avenue at 1:43 a.m. on Friday, December 12, after reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they found the two men. Despite life-saving efforts by police and emergency medical services, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Seek Vehicle, Dashcam Footage
In a news release issued on Thursday, December 19, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) stated the homicide section has taken over the investigation. Police believe the incident was a "targeted event."
Detectives are searching for a dark-coloured SUV that may have been in the vicinity around the time of the shooting. Investigators are appealing to the public, specifically those in the Silverberry Road and 23 Avenue area, as well as 34 Street and 29 Street.
They are asking anyone with potential dash camera or security footage from approximately 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, to 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, to come forward.
