The information indicated that the vehicle's occupant had collected a shipment of drugs in Winnipeg with the intention of transporting it to Edmonton. Substantial Seizures from Edmonton Homes
Following the traffic stop, ALERT executed searches at two homes in Edmonton, uncovering a cache of illegal items. The seized materials included:
- 20,500 grams of methamphetamine
- 3,100 grams of cocaine
- 700 grams of a cocaine buffing agent
- 23 grams of fentanyl
- A prohibited handgun equipped with a suppressor
- A loaded shotgun
- Counterfeit currency
- A courier vehicle featuring a hidden compartment
- $31,075 in cash
The total estimated value of the drugs alone reached $800,000, highlighting the scale of the operation.
Arrests and Charges Filed
On March 19, 2025, ALERT Edmonton's organized crime team arrested two Edmonton residents: John Corbett, 43, and Jesse Wynia, 43. Both individuals face a combined total of 24 criminal offences. The charges encompass conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, drug trafficking, firearms trafficking, and various other firearms-related violations.
