Victoria Man Extradited from Germany in Dark Web Fentanyl Trafficking Case

A Victoria man who allegedly sold fentanyl pills on the dark web has been returned from Germany where he fled after his initial arrest in Canada. The extradition marks a significant development in a complex international drug trafficking investigation.

Arrest and Extradition Details

Isaac Oliveira-Scott, 29, was arrested in Europe in February 2026 and escorted back to British Columbia this week, according to a news release from the RCMP's federal policing team. Oliveira-Scott was originally charged with trafficking and firearms offences in October 2025 following a four-year investigation into a drug trafficking network that allegedly used cryptocurrency, the dark web, and Canada Post to facilitate the sale and distribution of illegal drugs and counterfeit pills containing fentanyl.

The investigation began with Oliveira-Scott's initial arrest in February 2024 after police executed a search warrant at a Lower Mainland residence. During the search, authorities discovered stolen firearms, ammunition, fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, fraudulent identification documents, and Canadian currency.

International Manhunt and Capture

After being released as the investigation continued, Oliveira-Scott allegedly left Canada in May 2025 before formal charges were laid. Since October 2025, there had been a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest, and an Interpol Red Notice had been issued internationally.

"Suspects may evade police to avoid prosecution, but this file represents the tenacity of federal investigators working with international law enforcement partners to ensure those who are charged in Canada will eventually be caught," said RCMP Cpl. James Bennett in the news release.

Cpl. Bennett emphasized the complexity of the investigation, noting that "the suspects went to great lengths to shield identities by hiding behind the dark web. It was a sophisticated enterprise that shipped all manner of illicit drugs across the country."

Second Suspect and Missing Person Case

Also charged in the same case is Victoria resident Treshaun Thompson, 28. Thompson was reported missing to Victoria police on September 22, 2025, after last being seen in the Rockland neighbourhood on September 9, 2025. He was awaiting trial on drug trafficking charges when he vanished, and several of those charges were stayed in January 2026.

Victoria police continue to investigate Thompson's disappearance while the main case against Oliveira-Scott proceeds through the Canadian justice system following his extradition from Germany.

The case highlights the increasing challenges law enforcement faces in combating drug trafficking operations that utilize sophisticated technology and international networks to distribute dangerous substances like fentanyl.
