Vancouver Police Arrest Dangerous Offender for Breaching Parole
Dangerous Offender Arrested for Parole Breach in Vancouver

Vancouver police have arrested a man designated as a dangerous offender for allegedly breaching his parole conditions. Tyler Gordon Strathdee, 38, was taken into custody on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Vancouver Police Department.

Strathdee was released on parole in 2023 after serving a sentence for robbery and assault with a weapon. He was subject to strict conditions, including a curfew and a ban on possessing weapons. Police allege he violated those conditions, leading to his arrest.

“The VPD’s High-Risk Offender Unit has been monitoring Strathdee since his release,” said Constable Tania Visintin. “When we learned he may have breached his conditions, we acted quickly to ensure public safety.”

Strathdee has a lengthy criminal record dating back to 2005, including convictions for robbery, assault, and weapons offenses. He was declared a dangerous offender in 2018, which allows for an indeterminate prison sentence. He is now back in custody pending a parole board hearing.

The arrest comes amid heightened concern about repeat offenders in the community. Police urge anyone with information about Strathdee’s activities to contact them.
