A tragic collision between a pickup truck and a marked Ontario Provincial Police cruiser has claimed the life of a 10-year-old child near Perth.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The head-on crash occurred on Saturday, December 14, 2024, shortly before 4:30 p.m. The incident took place on Highway 7, between Drummond School Road and Drummond Concession 7, located east of Perth, Ontario.

According to the OPP, an oncoming pickup truck struck the police vehicle. The child was one of three people inside the pickup truck at the time of the impact.

Injuries and Aftermath

The young victim was airlifted from the scene by air ambulance to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, the child succumbed to those injuries and died the following day.

The two other occupants of the pickup truck were also seriously injured. They remain hospitalized and are receiving treatment. The OPP officer driving the cruiser sustained serious injuries as well, but they are described as non-life-threatening. The officer is currently recovering.
