Police Seek Public's Help in Disturbing Bathroom Camera Case

Montreal police have launched a public appeal to identify a man suspected of installing a hidden camera inside the bathroom of a Westmount café. The unsettling discovery was made on May 27, 2025, prompting an ongoing investigation into this serious breach of privacy.

Discovery and Investigation Details

The device was found by a woman using the accessible bathroom for persons with reduced mobility at the café, which is situated on Claremont Avenue near Sherbrooke Street West. Authorities confirmed that the camera was strategically concealed underneath a sink.

Upon examination, the camera's memory card revealed a disturbing collection of recordings. The footage captured individuals of all ages using the facility, violating their privacy. Crucially, the recordings also inadvertently documented the suspect himself, showing him in the act of either installing or removing the covert device.

Suspect Description Released by Police

In an effort to advance the investigation, Montreal police have released four photographs extracted from the camera. The suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, believed to be in his early 30s. He has a shaved or bald head and a dark beard.

His distinctive features include:

  • A full tattoo covering his entire left arm.
  • A black ring on his left ring finger.
  • He was seen in some images wearing a blue baseball cap featuring a white 'L.A.' logo.

Authorities are urging anyone with information that could lead to the identification of this individual to come forward immediately. The public can contact 911, their local police station, or Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133.
