Burnaby RCMP are intensifying their search for a man suspected of committing a sexual assault in a local park last month, releasing video footage and photographs in a public appeal for assistance.
Incident Details and Police Investigation
According to authorities, the assault took place on February 6, shortly after 7:45 p.m. at Lobley Park, specifically in the southwest corner near the intersection of Grimmer Street and Dunblane Avenue. The victim, a woman in her 30s, reported that she was walking through the park when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown individual.
Description of the Assault
Police allege that the suspect placed one hand over the victim's mouth while using the other hand to touch her groin and buttocks. The woman fought back against her attacker, who then fled the scene, running through the park towards Marlborough Avenue. Despite deploying a police dog, officers were unable to locate the suspect following the incident.
Public Appeal for Information
Corporal Laura Hirst, a spokesperson for the Burnaby RCMP, emphasized the importance of public cooperation in this investigation. "We are asking the public to take a close look at these photos and video," Hirst stated. "If you know this person or recognize him, we are asking you to call our investigators."
