Aurora man charged with extortion, police fear more victims

Police in Ontario have laid serious extortion charges against an Aurora man, alleging a years-long campaign of intimidation involving threats and violence against a victim.

Investigation Uncovers Years of Alleged Intimidation

In December, the York Regional Police, working alongside the South Simcoe Police Service, launched an investigation into alleged extortion in the city of Vaughan. The probe focused on activities dating back to 2018.

According to police, the suspect is accused of providing private loans to a victim while charging exaggerated interest rates. Authorities allege that the man then used threats and violence to intimidate the individual in order to collect payments, a pattern that reportedly persisted for several years.

Major Seizure Follows Aurora Raid

The investigation culminated on January 7, 2026, when officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Aurora. The search proved fruitful for investigators.

Police seized more than $10,000 in Canadian currency and seven luxury watches with an estimated combined value of $170,000. A 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Suspect Charged, Police Seek Potential Victims

The accused has been identified as Adam Sirizzotti, 34, of Aurora. He now faces formal charges of extortion and possession of property obtained by crime.

Following the arrest, York Regional Police took the unusual step of publicly releasing Sirizzotti's image. Investigators believe there may be additional alleged victims who have not yet come forward. They are urging anyone with information related to this case or who may have been targeted to contact authorities.
