In a significant enforcement action, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta have announced the recovery of stolen property valued at roughly $300,000. The operation, which unfolded in the northern part of the province, targeted a series of thefts involving commercial vehicles and machinery.

Details of the Recovery Operation

The investigation, led by the Alberta RCMP's Crime Reduction Unit, culminated on January 7, 2026. Officers executed a search warrant on a rural property located near the community of High Prairie. During the search, police located and seized multiple items of stolen property.

The recovered haul included heavy equipment and commercial vehicles that had been reported stolen from various locations across the region. The total estimated value of the recovered assets is $300,000.

Charges Laid in Connection to Thefts

As a direct result of the investigation, two individuals from the High Prairie area are now facing criminal charges. A 36-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have each been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Both accused were released from custody following a judicial hearing and are scheduled to appear in High Prairie Provincial Court at a later date. The RCMP have indicated that their investigation remains active and further charges are possible.

Ongoing Efforts Against Property Crime

The RCMP highlighted this recovery as a key success in their ongoing strategy to combat property crime, particularly the theft of high-value equipment which significantly impacts local businesses and industries. They credit cooperation from the public and targeted intelligence-led policing for the positive outcome.

Police are urging anyone with information about stolen property or related criminal activity to contact their local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers anonymously. The force reminds the public and businesses to record serial numbers for equipment and to consider implementing additional security measures for valuable assets stored on rural properties.
