RCMP have confirmed that a missing British Columbia resident, whose vehicle was found abandoned on a BC Ferries vessel, has been located deceased. Police say there are no indications of foul play in the death.
Vehicle discovered on ferry
The individual's car was discovered parked on a ferry after the vessel docked, with no sign of the owner. Authorities launched a search and investigation, which concluded with the discovery of the deceased person. The RCMP did not release the identity of the individual or the specific location where the body was found, citing privacy concerns.
Investigation ongoing
According to RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Simpson, “The investigation is ongoing, but at this time we do not suspect any criminal involvement. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.” Police are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the person's death and the abandonment of the vehicle.
Public assistance sought
Earlier, RCMP had appealed to the public for information regarding the missing person and the abandoned car. They thanked those who provided tips that aided in the search. The case has been referred to the BC Coroners Service for further investigation into the cause of death.
