Air Canada Honours MMIWG2S+ with Commemorative Video

In observance of Red Dress Day in Canada, Air Canada has released a commemorative video created to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit peoples (MMIWG2S+). The video, titled 'Spirit Woman', is part of the airline's ongoing commitment to supporting Indigenous communities and amplifying Indigenous voices.

Video Release and Reach

The video was released on May 5, 2026, on Air Canada's website, social media channels, and communications platforms. It is also being shown to a global audience through the airline's inflight entertainment system. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the national crisis of MMIWG2S+ and its ongoing impact.

Indigenous Voices at the Forefront

The video was directed by Apollonia Productions, founded by award-winning Indigenous filmmaker Apolla Echino, a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta. It features contributions from Indigenous creators, including Cambria Harris, daughter of the late Morgan Harris, an MMIWG2S+ advocate, and Jaime Black, artist and founder of the REDress Project. Their involvement ensures the project is rooted in authenticity, remembrance, and community-led expression.
