Windsor police have charged one individual and are actively searching for a second suspect following what authorities describe as a violent robbery that left a woman injured.
Details of the Incident
Officers responded on Tuesday just before 2 p.m. to the area of Ouellette Avenue and Tuscarora Street in the city's downtown core. According to police, a woman was riding her bicycle when she was confronted by two male suspects who were known to her. One of the men allegedly knocked her off her bike and yelled, Get her.
As the woman attempted to flee on foot, she was struck in the head with a metal water bottle. The suspects then stole cash and an MP3 player from the victim before fleeing the scene.
Victim's Condition
The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police confirmed.
Arrest and Search for Second Suspect
A 36-year-old man was located and arrested in the 800 block of Ouellette Avenue. He faces a charge of robbery with violence. The second suspect, a 27-year-old man, is being sought by police on an arrest warrant for charges including robbery with violence, assault with a weapon, and disobeying a lawful order of a court.
