Suspect Apprehended in Windsor Robbery Case
Windsor police have taken a suspect into custody following a violent robbery that shocked the local community. The incident, which took place on January 15, 2025, involved a victim being assaulted and robbed near the intersection of Ouellette Avenue and Wyandotte Street East.
Details of the Incident
According to authorities, the robbery occurred in the early evening hours. The suspect allegedly approached the victim, demanded property, and then physically assaulted them before fleeing the scene with stolen items. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital.
Police launched an investigation immediately, reviewing surveillance footage and gathering witness statements. Within 48 hours, they identified a suspect and obtained a warrant for arrest.
Arrest and Charges
The suspect, a 34-year-old Windsor man, was arrested on January 17 without incident at a residence on the city's west side. He is now facing charges including robbery, assault causing bodily harm, and possession of stolen property.
Police have not released the suspect's name to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. He is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on January 20.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. Detective Sergeant Mark Felton of the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit stated, 'We believe there may be other victims or witnesses who have not yet spoken to police. We encourage them to contact us.'
