Montreal police are investigating after two women were shot in a bar in the Plateau-Mont-Royal district late Thursday night. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. at an establishment on Saint-Denis Street near Duluth Avenue.

According to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), officers responded to reports of gunfire and found two women with gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Their identities have not been released, and their current condition is stable.

Police Investigation Underway

Police have cordoned off the area and are reviewing security footage to identify suspects. No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unclear. Investigators are appealing to witnesses for information.

"We are treating this as a serious incident," said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Bouchard. "We are working to determine the circumstances and locate those responsible."

The shooting has raised concerns among local residents and business owners about safety in the popular nightlife district. The Plateau-Mont-Royal is known for its vibrant bar and restaurant scene, and violent incidents are relatively rare.
