Trump Bemoans Lack of Praise for DOJ's 'Anti-Weaponization Fund'
Trump Upset Over No Praise for Anti-Weaponization Fund

President Donald Trump expressed visible disappointment on Friday regarding the public reaction to the Department of Justice's billion-dollar 'Anti-Weaponization Fund,' questioning why his selflessness was not being acknowledged.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump complained about the lack of appreciation he is receiving for not pursuing a $10 billion lawsuit against his own government. Instead, he allowed the DOJ to establish what it describes as 'a systematic process to hear and redress claims of others who suffered weaponization and lawfare.'

Trump emphasized that he 'gave up a lot of money in allowing the just announced Anti-Weaponization Fund to go forward,' insisting he 'could have settled my case, including the illegal release of my Tax Returns and the equally illegal BREAK IN of Mar-a-Lago, for an absolute fortune.' He added, 'instead, I am helping others, who were so badly abused by an evil, corrupt, and weaponized Biden Administration, receive, at long last, JUSTICE!'

Despite Trump's claims of selflessness and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche's belief that Americans 'want their tax dollars spent on things like that,' few others support the fund. Various GOP lawmakers have admitted concerns, and Georgetown law professor David Super stated that the fund 'undermines almost all parts of the Constitution simultaneously.' A former DOJ official described the proposal to HuffPost as 'patently unlawful.'

The New York Times called the fund 'an episode of presidential corruption so blatant and threatening to constitutional order,' prompting widespread ridicule on social media. Critics mocked Trump's appeal for praise, with comments such as, 'I could have kept the whole $2B that I plundered from the taxpayers for myself. Instead, I was kind enough to give some of it away to folks who beat the fuck out of cops!' and 'bank robber seeks praise for leaving a couple gold bars behind.' Others noted the contradiction between Trump's current statements and his previous denial of involvement with the fund.
