Donald Trump shared on his Truth Social platform Tuesday what appeared to be a mock logo for “National Immigration & Customs Enforcement” — or “NICE” — the trolling nickname he has recently used for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Logo Design and Symbolism
The logo features a bald eagle with its wings spread wide in gold, black and white tones. It clutches an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other, with a stars-and-stripes shield across its chest, over the acronym and agency name.
Official Amplification
The Department of Homeland Security later shared Trump’s post on X, and the White House account amplified the post with a second image showing what appeared to be an embroidered-style patch version of the logo.
Public Reaction
Critics from across the political spectrum slammed the post on X. Some questioned the prioritization of a rebranding over actual enforcement, while others mocked the attempt as dystopian or corny. One user commented, "This is ridiculous. Where's DOGE when you need them? This is what you're going to spend millions on?" Another wrote, "Good to know that a name change is more important & takes priority over actually deporting people!" A third user said, "Ah, yes. Because branding was the problem..." One critic stated, "Horrible attempt at rebranding! We don't want nice. We want badass deportations!" Others noted they would continue to call the agency ICE and expressed defiance. Another user sarcastically suggested the acronym stood for "Nabbing Innocent Citizens Erroneously."
