Trump Endorses Renaming ICE to NICE to Irk Media

President Donald Trump has endorsed a proposal to rename Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to NICE, short for National Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in a bid to irk the media. The idea, originally posted by X user @alyssamariiee11 in March, suggested the change so that journalists would be forced to refer to 'NICE agents' in their reporting. Trump amplified the suggestion on his Truth Social platform, writing, 'GREAT IDEA!!! DO IT.'

Trump Comments on Would-Be Assassin's Speed

In a separate development, Trump expressed admiration for the speed of a man who attempted to assassinate him this weekend. During an interview with CBS's Norah O'Donnell on '60 Minutes,' Trump remarked, 'His speed was rather incredible, actually. He was like a blur.' The comment came as the president discussed the security incident that occurred outside the White House Correspondents Association Dinner.

Security Concerns at WHCD Event

The White House Correspondents Association Dinner on Saturday did not have the highest level of security, according to a Washington Post report. Unlike events such as the State of the Union, which are designated as National Special Security Events by the Homeland Security Secretary, the dinner lacked this designation despite the presence of Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and multiple Cabinet members. Two law enforcement officials told The Post that the Secret Service believed it was responsible for protecting the ballroom and its immediate perimeter, but not the entire Hilton hotel. Trump praised the Secret Service for their handling of the incident, stating, 'Those guys did a good job last night. They did a really good job.' Secret Service Director Sean Curran also said the events demonstrated that the agency's multi-layered protection works. A DHS spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and the Secret Service did not answer questions about its role.

U.S. Military Strike Kills Three in Eastern Pacific

A U.S. military strike on a boat suspected of carrying drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean resulted in three deaths on Sunday, as reported by U.S. Southern Command on social media. This strike is part of the Trump administration's ongoing campaign against alleged drug-trafficking vessels in Latin American waters, which began in early September and has now killed at least 186 people. Similar strikes have also occurred in the Caribbean Sea.

Trump Clashes with CBS Reporter Over Manifesto

During the same '60 Minutes' interview, Trump lashed out at CBS reporter Norah O'Donnell after she read excerpts from an alleged manifesto written by the suspect in the shooting outside the WHCD dinner. O'Donnell read, 'Administration officials, they are targets,' and 'I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.' Trump responded angrily, saying, 'Well, I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would, because you're horrible people, horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I'm not a rapist. I didn't rape anybody. I'm not a pedophile.' The president insisted he was 'totally exonerated' by the content of the manifesto.
