Trump Calls for Replacement of Senate Parliamentarian in Truth Social Rant
Trump Demands Replacement of Senate Parliamentarian

President Trump launched a blistering attack on Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough in a Wednesday morning post on Truth Social, demanding her immediate replacement.

Trump's Criticism of MacDonough

"Over the years, she has been brutal to Republicans, but not so to the Dumocrats — So why has she not been replaced? There are many fair people who would be qualified for that vital job," Trump wrote, referring to MacDonough, who was appointed by former Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2012.

The president's ire was sparked by MacDonough's recent decision to block the inclusion of $1 billion in funding for Trump's White House ballroom in the Republicans' budget reconciliation package.

"The Dumocrats cheat, lie, and steal, especially when it comes to Votes in Elections, but stick together, whereas the Republicans allow the Elizabeth MacDonoughs of the World to stay in power, and brutalize us," Trump continued. He further claimed that passing the Save America Act and eliminating the filibuster are necessary steps to keep Republicans in politics.

Thune Rejects Replacement Idea

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) dismissed the notion of replacing MacDonough when speaking with reporters on Wednesday. "That’s, I guess, his opinion. But that would create even more vote issues here if we were to try and do something like that. So we’ll make sure that everybody has got security around here," Thune stated, emphasizing the potential complications such a move would cause.
