President Donald Trump lashed out at former President Barack Obama over the Iran nuclear deal, calling Iran's response to the White House's latest peace proposal "TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE." In a Sunday afternoon post on Truth Social, Trump accused Iran of playing games with the United States since the fall of the Shah in 1979.
Trump's Accusations
Trump wrote that Iran's strategy has been "DELAY, DELAY, DELAY!" and warned that the nation will be "laughing no longer" if his administration has the final word. He claimed that Iran "finally hit 'pay dirt'" with Obama, who negotiated the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal alongside other world powers.
"He was not only good to them, he was great, actually going to their side, jettisoning Israel, and all other Allies, and giving Iran a major and very powerful new lease on life," Trump wrote.
False Claims About Funds
The president falsely claimed that the Obama administration gave Iran billions of dollars "in green cash" on a "silver platter" in 2016. This refers to a $400 million arms deal settlement from the 1970s and the release of frozen Iranian funds. Trump said the amounts were so substantial that "Iranian Thugs had no idea what to do with it" when offloaded from planes in "suitcases and satchels."
Trump called Obama the "greatest sucker of them all" and continued: "He was a disaster as our 'Leader,' but not as bad as Sleepy Joe Biden!"
Accusations Against Iran
Trump accused Iranian leaders of stringing the U.S. along for decades, "keeping us waiting, killing our people with their roadside bombs, destroying protests," and "wiping out 42,000 innocent, unarmed protestors, and laughing at our now GREAT AGAIN Country." He concluded, "They will be laughing no longer!"
