Essex County Ontario Provincial Police have concluded that the death of a three-year-old child in Tecumseh last week was not the result of foul play. The announcement came on Tuesday, putting an end to the sudden death investigation that began on Thursday, April 23.

Police received a call at approximately 5:30 p.m. on April 23 regarding an unresponsive toddler at a residence on Chornoby Crescent in Tecumseh. Officers from the Essex County OPP, along with Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services and Tecumseh Fire and Rescue Services, responded to the scene. Despite life-saving measures administered by first responders, the child could not be revived.
Investigation Details
The sudden death prompted a thorough investigation led by the Office of the Chief Coroner, with assistance from the Essex County OPP Crime Unit. Throughout the process, authorities assured the public that there was no ongoing threat to community safety, though a heightened police presence was noted in the area.
On Tuesday, Essex County OPP confirmed that the investigation is now complete. Investigators determined that the child's death was not suspicious, meaning no criminal activity was involved.
