Edmonton police are seeking the public's help to identify a gunman after a stray bullet struck a home in the Clareview neighbourhood, narrowly missing a sleeping child. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on April 5, when a bullet fired from a nearby schoolyard tore through the bedroom wall of a residence near 133 Avenue and Clareview Road.
Police Appeal for Information
In a Friday news release, police stated that northeast patrol officers responded to reports of shots fired. Investigators believe the shooting was random and that a single suspect is responsible. They are also looking for a vehicle captured on video surveillance that may be connected to the gunman.
Acting Insp. Eric Stewart of the Investigations Response Teams expressed relief that the situation was not worse. “We’re thankful to not be reporting on more dire circumstances today and are appealing to residents for any information they may recall about a shooting that night,” he said. “A brazen shooting in a residential neighbourhood is concerning, in particular when a child was directly in harm’s way.”
