The shooting took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. in a park located in the 2000 block of Bowen Road. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a dark-colored sedan fleeing the scene. Nanaimo RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé stated, "We are treating this incident very seriously. Fortunately, no one was physically harmed, but the potential for tragedy was high."
