The 28th annual SaskTel Indigenous Youth Awards celebrated the remarkable accomplishments of Indigenous youth from across Saskatchewan. The ceremony, held on June 6, 2026, recognized winners in five categories, highlighting their contributions to leadership, culture, education, sports, and community service.
Five Categories of Excellence
Each award category honors a distinct area of achievement. The winners were selected for their dedication, resilience, and positive impact on their communities. The awards aim to inspire other Indigenous youth to pursue their goals and celebrate their heritage.
Leadership Award
The Leadership Award went to a young individual who demonstrated exceptional guidance and initiative in community projects. This winner organized cultural events and mentored peers, fostering unity and pride.
Cultural Award
The Cultural Award recognized a youth who actively preserved and promoted Indigenous traditions. Through art, language, and storytelling, this winner helped revitalize ancestral knowledge.
Education Award
The Education Award honored academic excellence and a commitment to learning. The recipient maintained high grades while tutoring others and advocating for Indigenous education.
Sports Award
The Sports Award celebrated athletic achievement and teamwork. This winner excelled in multiple sports and served as a role model for healthy living.
Community Service Award
The Community Service Award acknowledged volunteer work and social impact. The recipient organized food drives, cleaned up reserves, and supported elders.
A Night of Celebration
The gala event featured performances by Indigenous artists, speeches from community leaders, and a dinner that showcased traditional cuisine. SaskTel, the sponsor, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Indigenous youth development.
