Multiple homes were destroyed on Friday despite the relentless efforts of Saskatoon fire crews, who spent hours battling blazes in the Hampton Village neighbourhood. The Saskatoon Fire Department reported that crews initially responded to reports of “thick heavy black smoke with a structure fully involved in fire” on Geary Crescent. The flames rapidly spread to adjacent homes, posing a threat to other nearby properties.
In response to the emergency, two aerial units, four engines, one rescue unit, and a mobile command unit were dispatched to the scene. The response also included the deputy fire chief, battalion chief, safety officer, and 32 firefighters, who worked tirelessly to bring the situation under control.
