Toronto police held a solemn procession on Saturday to honor Constable Marc Pinizzotto, who died in the line of duty. Officers lined the streets to salute their fallen colleague as his remains were transported.
Procession Details
The procession began at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto and made its way to a funeral home. Police vehicles and officers on foot accompanied the hearse, with many saluting as it passed.
Constable Pinizzotto, a 14-year veteran of the Toronto Police Service, was killed while responding to a call in the city's west end. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Community Support
Members of the public also gathered along the route to show their support. Flags were lowered to half-mast at police stations across the city.
Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw expressed condolences, saying, "We have it from here, Marc. We will take care of your family and your memory."
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with one suspect in custody.
