Calgary police are investigating a fatal assault that occurred early Thursday morning in the northwest community of Capitol Hill. Officers responded to reports of an assault with a weapon shortly before 5 a.m. on July 2, 2026.

Details of the incident

Upon arrival at the scene in the 1300 block of 20 Avenue N.W., police discovered a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries, according to a police statement.

One person has been taken into custody in connection with the attack. The investigation remains ongoing, and an autopsy for the victim has been scheduled for Friday.
