FBI Director Kash Patel has encountered increasing scrutiny regarding his drinking habits, and a newly released supercut video is unlikely to alleviate the concerns. Last week, MSNBC's Jen Psaki aired a compilation of Patel discussing his alcohol consumption over the years. The footage was shared on social media by Marco Foster, highlighting Patel's remarks about his drinking.
Supercut Video Aired After Heated Hearing
The supercut video was broadcast following a contentious hearing where Patel was questioned about reports of his drinking, erratic behavior, and unexplained absences. During the hearing, Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) directly challenged Patel to undergo an alcoholism assessment. Over the weekend, Van Hollen stated that recent reports suggest the director has been “incapacitated” by his alleged drinking.
Patel Denies Allegations
Patel, who gained attention in a viral video chugging a beer with the U.S. men's hockey team at the Winter Olympics, has consistently denied all allegations of excessive drinking. Last month, he filed a $250 million defamation lawsuit against the Atlantic Monthly Group, the publisher of The Atlantic, over a report that accused him of excessive alcohol consumption.
