Ontario Provincial Police have laid impaired driving charges following a traffic stop on Highway 17. The incident occurred late Sunday night when officers observed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit near the junction of Highway 17 and Highway 64.

Details of the Stop

Police say the driver was pulled over after being clocked at a high rate of speed. Upon speaking with the driver, officers detected signs of alcohol impairment. The driver was subsequently arrested and taken to a detachment for breath testing.

Charges Laid

The accused, a 45-year-old from Sudbury, faces charges including operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit. The vehicle was impounded for seven days, and the driver's licence was suspended for 90 days.
