Gregoire Lakes Estate Home Destroyed in Catastrophic Fire

An investigation is underway after a catastrophic fire destroyed a home in the Gregoire Lakes Estate, a rural area approximately 20 minutes south of Fort McMurray, Alberta. The blaze, reported around 3 p.m. on Friday, June 12, drew firefighters from Fort McMurray and Anzac to the scene on Gregoire Avenue.

When crews arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control within an hour, according to an online incident report released by the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) on Tuesday, July 16. Firefighters remained on site for an additional two hours to fully extinguish the fire and ensure the area was safe.

Complete Loss of the Property

No injuries were reported, but the home suffered irreversible smoke, fire, and water damage. The RMWB has classified the structure as a “complete loss.” The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, and the RMWB is working with the fire marshal and investigators to determine the origin.

Responders included a tanker, several pumper units, paramedics, and utility crews. The Gregoire Lakes Estate, known for its cottage and lakeside living, is home to approximately 200 residents.
