James Carville acknowledged that he has hurled numerous insults at President Trump over the years while revealing the one put-down he refuses to utter — and his reason behind it is brutal. Days after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt accused Democrats of spewing violent rhetoric against President Trump following Saturday’s attack at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Carville, a Democratic political consultant, shut down the backlash he says he has faced about his expletive-laden jabs at Trump.
Carville's Comments on Trump Insults
“Many times people have criticized me because I’ve called Trump the MF-word and I’ve called him worse than that, and I’ve called him a sack of shit,” Carville said in a Tuesday interview with Politicon. “Rod [Dreher], who is [JD] Vance’s spiritual mentor, and Tucker Carlson, who is a person of some substance in the Republican Party, have both called Trump the Antichrist. Well, even I haven’t gotten there,” he continued. Carville then directly spoke to his critics, telling them, “So, please, all the people that fight in the street about my name-calling, understand this. I have not yet referred to Donald John Trump as the Antichrist. Alright?”
The Reason Behind His Restraint
His reason why? “Because I think Antichrist would be smarter than him,” he added. Carville’s comments came after Leavitt blamed the WHCD shooting on rhetoric from Democrats about the president. “This political violence stems from a systemic demonization of him and his supporters by commentators, yes, by elected members of the Democrat Party and even some in the media,” Leavitt told reporters at the White House press briefing on Monday. “This hateful and constant and violent rhetoric directed at President Trump day after day after day for 11 years has helped to legitimize this violence and bring us to this dark moment,” she continued. Leavitt also claimed that the “left-wing cult of hatred” against the president and his supporters has resulted in multiple people getting hurt or killed, adding that it “almost did so again this weekend.” Watch Carville’s Politicon interview below.
