York Regional Police have recovered a stolen vehicle and charged a suspect following an Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) alert in the Town of Aurora, Ontario, on June 4, 2026.
The incident began when an ALPR system alerted officers to a stolen SUV traveling in the area. Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, leading to the arrest of a 23-year-old man from Barrie.
The suspect has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and other related offences. He was held for a bail hearing.
Authorities remind the public that ALPR technology plays a crucial role in identifying stolen vehicles and enhancing road safety. The investigation remains ongoing.
