Ukraine Receives 11 Requests for Drone Defense Expertise from Global Allies
Ukraine Gets 11 Requests for Drone Defense Help from Allies

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Monday that eleven nations have formally requested assistance from Kyiv in developing effective countermeasures against Iranian-designed attack drones. This development comes as Ukraine continues to demonstrate remarkable proficiency in neutralizing aerial threats, with its military forces consistently intercepting or destroying more than eighty percent of all incoming Russian drones—hundreds of which are launched in nightly barrages.

International Interest in Ukrainian Expertise

According to President Zelenskyy, the requests originate from a diverse coalition of nations, including countries neighboring Iran, several European states, and the United States. "There is clear interest in Ukraine's experience in protecting lives, relevant interceptors, electronic warfare systems and training," Zelenskyy stated during his address. While he did not specify the exact countries involved, the breadth of interest underscores the global significance of Ukraine's hard-won defensive capabilities.

Practical Implementation and Knowledge Transfer

Ukrainian drone experts are already en route to the Middle East, with deployments scheduled to begin this week. This practical assistance represents just one component of Ukraine's proposed cooperation framework. Kyiv has offered to exchange its specialized drone interceptors—unmanned aerial vehicles specifically engineered to neutralize incoming attack drones mid-flight—for sophisticated air defense missiles that remain in critically short supply within Ukraine's own arsenal.

Beyond physical equipment, Ukrainian defense officials emphasize the invaluable tactical knowledge their forces have accumulated through relentless combat experience. Igor Fedirko, CEO of the Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry, explained, "No one in the world has the expertise and experience that we do. We use combined systems, acoustic detectors and sensors. We use early warning systems, different types of radars."

Comprehensive Defense Systems

Ukraine's successful drone defense strategy employs a multi-layered approach that integrates various technologies and tactics. The military utilizes a combination of cost-effective drone interceptors, advanced electronic jamming equipment, anti-aircraft artillery, fighter jets, and helicopters to create a comprehensive defensive network. This integrated system has proven remarkably effective against the Iranian-designed Shahed attack drones that Russia deploys regularly.

The Cost of Experience

Fedirko emphasized that Ukraine's defensive expertise comes at tremendous human cost. "These technologies that we paid a huge price for, with the blood and death of citizens and soldiers, cannot be just handed over for free," he told AFP. This statement highlights the complex ethical and practical considerations surrounding the transfer of military knowledge gained through active conflict.

The Iranian-designed drones that Ukraine has learned to counter effectively are now being deployed in strikes across the Middle East, creating urgent demand for proven defensive solutions. As global conflicts increasingly incorporate drone warfare, Ukraine's hard-earned experience positions the nation as an unexpected but crucial source of defensive innovation and tactical knowledge for allies worldwide.
