Police Dog Bites Suspect in Calgary School Break-In

Alberta's police watchdog is investigating after a police dog bit a suspect during a break-in at a Calgary school. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) said in a news release that the incident occurred early Wednesday morning.

Police were called to a school in the city's southeast around 2 a.m. after reports of a break-in. When officers arrived, they found a suspect inside the building. During the arrest, a police dog bit the suspect, causing injuries that required medical attention.

The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment and is expected to recover. ASIRT is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the dog bite to determine if the use of force was appropriate.
