A 19-year-old Ajax man has been charged in connection with a firearms investigation in Pickering, while Hamilton police are probing a stabbing and a home invasion that occurred early Saturday morning.
Ajax Man Charged After Firearms Investigation
Durham Regional Police announced that its Drug Enforcement Unit concluded a firearms investigation earlier this month. With assistance from the Tactical Support Unit, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Pickering, where the suspect was located and arrested without incident.
During the search, investigators discovered a Glock switch gun, drugs, and drug paraphernalia. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was subject to weapons prohibition conditions.
Tuan Ubayd Badurdeen faces charges including possession of a prohibited device, two counts of possession of a prohibited device, failure to comply with a court order, and possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking. Badurdeen was held pending a bail hearing.

Hamilton Woman Stabbed; Man Charged
Hamilton Police responded to a reported stabbing around 3 a.m. Saturday in the area of Fennel Avenue East and East 26th Street in the Mountain Eastmount neighbourhood. Officers found a woman with minor stab wounds; she was treated and remains in stable condition.
A 41-year-old man was located and arrested without incident. He has been charged with aggravated assault and arson. A section of Fennel Avenue East was closed Saturday morning for forensic investigation but has since reopened.

Home Invasion Under Investigation
Hamilton Police are also investigating a home invasion that occurred around 4 a.m. Saturday in the Mount Butler neighbourhood, near Rymal Road East and Arrowhead Drive. Three masked men forced their way into a unit at 565 Rymal Road East, with one suspect armed with a firearm. They demanded money from the occupants in what police believe was a targeted incident.
The suspects fled in a dark sedan, possibly a Honda Civic. Police are seeking witnesses and security footage.
