A Vancouver Island hotel has earned a prestigious spot on Travel + Leisure magazine's 100 Best New Hotels of the Year list, highlighting its exceptional quality and unique offerings in the competitive hospitality industry.
Historic Victoria Property Makes the Cut
Rosemead House, located at 429 Lampson Street in Victoria, is one of only three Canadian destinations to be included in this elite ranking. The hotel opened in 2025 after a meticulous renovation of a 118-year-old manor near downtown Victoria, transforming it into a distinctive 29-room boutique accommodation that blends historic elegance with modern luxury.
Curated Design and Personal Touch
The hotel's interior is richly decorated with furnishings sourced from over 200 estate auctions across the United Kingdom, curated by owner Lenny Moy, a real estate developer and design enthusiast behind Vancouver-based Aragon Properties. This attention to detail creates a unique atmosphere where each room tells a story, offering guests a sense of discovery and immersion in craftsmanship.
General Manager Uwe Walter emphasized the team's role in bringing the property to life, stating in a news release, "We create experiences that feel elevated without ever feeling overstated. That level of care is what defines a stay here." Moy added, "Rosemead House was never intended to follow convention. It's a place where history, craftsmanship, and imagination intersect."
Exclusive Recognition and Canadian Peers
Rosemead House joins two other Canadian properties on the Travel + Leisure list: The Kendrick Hotel in Banff and Huttopia Les Deux Lacs – Laurentides in Mont-Blanc, Quebec. The selection process involved reviewing nearly 250 hotel properties from 40 countries, with a focus on those that opened or underwent significant renovations between February 2025 and 2026.
In addition to its luxurious accommodations, the hotel features a restaurant and spa, enhancing its appeal as a comprehensive destination for travelers seeking a refined and memorable experience. This recognition underscores the growing prominence of boutique hotels in Canada's tourism sector, showcasing how historic preservation and innovative design can create award-winning hospitality.
