Ian Ross's Board Game Collection Up for Sale by Children in Winnipeg
Ian Ross's Board Game Collection Up for Sale by Children

The children of the late Ian Ross are selling his extensive board game collection, with proceeds going to community programs in Winnipeg. The collection, which includes hundreds of rare and vintage games, was displayed at the Lord Roberts Community Centre on June 20, 2026.

A Generous Man Remembered

Ian Ross, described by his family as a generous and passionate collector, amassed the collection over decades. His children decided to sell the games to honor his memory and support local initiatives. “He would have wanted others to enjoy these games as much as he did,” said one of his children.

Collection Highlights

The collection features games from the 1950s to the present, including limited editions and out-of-print titles. Among the notable items are a mint-condition 1960s Monopoly set and a rare copy of Acquire from the 1970s. The sale is expected to attract collectors and enthusiasts from across Canada.

The auction will take place online and in person, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Lord Roberts Community Centre. The centre offers programs for children and families, aligning with Ross’s belief in the power of play to bring people together.

“Ian was a fixture at local game nights, always eager to teach newcomers,” said a friend. “His legacy will live on through these games and the community they support.”
