A local dog shelter in Barrie is facing a financial crisis, with debts totaling $65,000. Lost Boys, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs, has been overwhelmed by rising veterinary costs and an increasing number of animals in need.
Financial Struggles
The shelter's debt has accumulated over the past year, driven by expensive medical treatments for injured or ill dogs. Among the recent cases are sibling dogs Toga and Lana, who were brought into care after being attacked by a wolf. Their recovery required extensive veterinary care, contributing to the financial strain.
Community Support Needed
Lost Boys is now appealing to the community for donations to help cover the debt and continue its mission. The shelter emphasizes that every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in saving the lives of man's best friend.
Without immediate financial support, the shelter may be forced to reduce its capacity or limit intake, potentially leaving many dogs without a safe haven.
