A Manitoba animal rescue organization has taken in 43 cats following a hoarding situation in Winnipeg. Tails of Freedom, a local rescue group, received the cats on April 27, 2026, and is now providing them with necessary medical care and rehabilitation.
Details of the Rescue
The cats were removed from a home where they were living in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions. Tails of Freedom staff and volunteers worked to transport the animals to their facility, where each cat is being assessed by veterinarians. Many of the cats require treatment for malnutrition, respiratory infections, and other health issues common in hoarding cases.
Care and Adoption Plans
According to the rescue, the cats will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being placed for adoption. Tails of Freedom is seeking donations to help cover the cost of medical care and food. The organization also encourages potential adopters to apply online or visit the facility to meet the cats once they are healthy.
The rescue group thanked the community for its support and urged anyone aware of similar situations to report them to local authorities or animal welfare organizations.
