Canadian rock legends The Tragically Hip have joined forces with Ontario's Kawartha Dairy to create a new ice cream flavor, The Tragically Chip, available for a limited time starting June 22.
What's in the Flavor?
The ice cream is described as a sophisticated blend of maple whisky flavored ice cream, with dark chocolatey chunks and a rich black cherry ripple. It pays homage to the band's iconic song 'Bobcaygeon,' which also references the village where Kawartha Dairy was founded nearly 90 years ago.
Partnership Details
Mike Crowe, a third-generation owner and director of product development at Kawartha Dairy, expressed excitement about the collaboration. 'We're thrilled to partner with The Tragically Hip whose music has been an essential part of the Canadian experience, and summer memories, just like Kawartha Dairy,' he said in a statement. 'What's more Canadian than celebrating summer by the lake, with great music by a campfire, and a cone of The Tragically Chip?'
Supporting Breakfast Club of Canada
A portion of sales from The Tragically Chip will be donated to Breakfast Club of Canada, an organization dedicated to providing nutritious breakfasts to children across the country. The band stated, 'We are thrilled about this partnership with Kawartha Dairy and the opportunity to raise money for an amazing organization like Breakfast Club of Canada. Communities have always turned out to support us and we will always do what we can to support them.'
